5 Reasons Why We Love Victoria, British Columbia

Victoria British Columbia Canada

Victoria may not be a place you’ve spent much time before, but there are many reasons why you’ll fall in love with it in 2022. From its fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean to its local restaurants and boutique shops, Victoria has something for everyone, whether you are traveling with your family or friends, looking to enjoy yourself on vacation or planning an active business trip. Here are just five reasons why we will love Victoria, British Columbia in 2022...

1) Victoria is eco-friendly
When traveling to Victoria in 2022, you’ll find that many of its most popular attractions are powered by renewable energy. The city has committed to a 30% reduction of greenhouse gasses by 2020, and is on track for success – it’s already reduced emissions by about 13% over the last few years. At night, when you look out at James Bay from your hotel room in 2022, you’ll see eco-friendly street lights lighting up brightly.

2) Victoria has amazing weather
Not only is there an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, but it’s also consistently mild, rarely dipping below freezing and rarely rising above 32 degrees Celsius. On average, Victoria’s summer high temperature is 26 degrees Celsius, and there are about 66 hours of sun a month. It isn’t too hot to enjoy outdoor recreation, but it’s warm enough that we don’t have to bundle up when walking around downtown or meeting friends for dinner outdoors!

3) Victoria offers plenty of entertainment options
From themed restaurants and pubs to ice cream parlours, museums, and art galleries, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy your day out with a nice stroll through Butchart Gardens—the 19th-century gardens will always be there! Whether you’re a hiker, cyclist, golfer, foodie or something else entirely, there are plenty of things to do around town.

While visiting Fisherman’s Wharf you can check out any number of souvenir shops and seafood restaurants, or even sign up for one of the many fishing charters that depart from Fisherman’s Wharf each year. You might also be able to spot a whale swimming by if you time your visit well!

4) Greater Victoria Has Several Museums Worth Checking Out
There are some great museums located within close proximity to Victoria that you can enjoy as a tourist. These include: The Royal British Columbia Museum - Visitors who want to learn more about British Columbia’s history will love taking a trip to The Royal British Columbia Museum which is an amazing museum that offers visitors an opportunity to see what life was like on Vancouver Island over a century ago. The Maritime Museum of British Columbia - Located directly across from Victoria's Inner Harbor and right next door to Fan Tan Alley, there are few things more iconic than The Maritime Museum of British Columbia located right beside Beacon Hill Park. There are tons of opportunities here to view exhibitions showcasing art, science and culture that aren’t found anywhere else in Canada.

5) Victoria welcomes everyone from all over the world
Whether you’re from out of town or from abroad, if you live, work, or are visiting British Columbia’s capital city, you’ll feel at home here. In fact, Victoria has a very diverse population that attracts visitors and new residents every year. As of 2022, about 12% of the total population consists of recent immigrants (there were more than 10,000), many who speak a language other than English or French—and most who stay because they like what they find. It’s one reason why Victoria ranked among the top 5 small cities in the world by British magazine, Monocle, for their international list.

There’s a lot to love about Victoria, British Columbia. From its beautiful scenery to its multicultural vibe, you’ll fall head over heels when you visit.
